Lil Wayne and the Rosary!
Ever since the famous rapper Lil Wayne started wearing a Rosary around his neck as a necklace, his fans have followed this new craze tremendously. I feel like every time I see a black male, he is "rocking" his necklace. Whenever I ask the guy if he wears that because Lil Wayne does it, they always say no. Most of the time they get very defensive about it because they know its not an original idea from them. It amazes me how no one used to do that and it was never seen until the rapper did it and yet every one approached about it still denies the fact it came from him. Personally, I think this is committing a sin! This absolutely drives me insane when people flaunt this beautiful and quite meaningful religious symbol for their own personal "swagger". The crucifix should not dangle around a neck. No one I have EVER known wears it for a religious reason either. Just like guys sag their pants, they wear this as a jewelry piece to look good and impress others. There is no meaning behind it and this is why I do not agree with wearing the Rosary as an accessory. Lil Wayne is primarily the reason for this uprising trend, but should not be looked down upon for this. I don't feel less of someone who chooses to wear it, I just would never do it on my own time. At the end of the day I will sleep just fine knowing men are doing this without thinking anything about it. Quite frankly I don't care enough to do anything about it nor could I probably even make a difference if I did feel that strongly. Not every thing in the world is going to please every one. Actually, almost nothing will make every one happy. Does this mean I am not going to do anything about every thing that I don't agree with? No! Somethings just need to be put to a stop, but smaller things should just be blown off. This is a great example of one of those blow off things.
